Somatic Movement Educator Training
Somatic Movement Educator Training
The new weekend BodyMindMovement Somatic Movement Educator training is designed for the needs of professionals who want to maintain their businesses or practices while training. Each module will consist of 40 hours of instruction over 2 weekends, one month apart (Fridays 5 – 9 pm, Saturdays and Sundays 9 – 6 pm). The 12 modules will be divided between the Body Systems track at Texas State University and the Los Angeles-based developmental movement track in collaboration with OM Vitality Rehab. People who complete both tracks of the three-year training are certified as Somatic Movement Educators and eligible to register with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association.
The 500-hour program trains you to work with movement facilitation, touch, and sound to support transformation. The SME Program has immediate applications in movement- based disciplines—such as dance, yoga, sports, and martial arts—and in therapeutic modalities such as psychotherapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, bodywork, and massage. Each of the 12 courses focuses on an aspect of developmental movement or a body system.
ISMETA-registered faculty will be led by Mark C. Taylor, director of the Center for BodyMindMovement.
